Initial Home Mobility Review
The first step is a calm, unhurried review of the home and daily routines. This includes observing how the
person stands, walks, turns, and moves through common areas such as the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and entryways.
The focus is on understanding what feels challenging, what feels safe, and where small adjustments could reduce
the risk of falls. Recommendations may include changes in setup, suggested equipment, or simple strategies for
safer movement in daily routines.
One-to-One Mobility Coaching
Individual sessions are designed around real-life tasks — getting out of bed, standing from a favorite chair,
walking to the bathroom at night, or stepping out of the home. Coaching is calm and collaborative, with extra
time given for rest, explanation, and questions.
The pace respects medical history, energy levels, and confidence. There is no pressure to “perform”; instead,
the emphasis is on safer patterns, steady breathing, and practical strategies that can be repeated between visits.
Functional Strength & Walking Training
Many older adults benefit from targeted strength and balance work that connects directly to everyday movements.
Sessions may include sit-to-stand practice, gentle step training, supported balance work, and walking on different
indoor and outdoor surfaces.
This service is also well-suited for active adults 50+ who are moving independently but would like structured
strength, endurance, and walking training brought directly to their home. Portable resistance equipment may be
used as appropriate, with exercises chosen for safety, practicality, and long-term joint health.
Caregiver Training
Family members and other caregivers are often unsure how much to help, or how to assist without risking injury
to themselves or the person they are supporting. Caregiver training sessions provide simple, repeatable strategies.
Topics may include safe hand placement, how to assist with transfers, when to use gait belts or other supports,
and how to recognize when a task may be unsafe to attempt alone.
Safety & Home Setup Guidance
Small changes in layout and routine can significantly improve safety. Keystone Mobility Coaching offers guidance
on setting up walking paths, arranging seating, choosing appropriate assistive devices, and organizing spaces to
reduce unnecessary reaching, twisting, or rushing.
The goal is a home that quietly supports safer movement — without turning it into a clinical or unfamiliar space.
Every plan is individualized. No specific outcomes or timelines are promised, but every session is approached
with careful attention to safety, communication, and the priorities of the person and their family.
